The ‘Heart to Heart' Appeal ran throughout December with Yorkshire's members, staff and the public taking part in a host of fundraising activities including the sale of limited edition cuddly Christmas tree decorations and reindeer food on behalf of Santa's Little Helpers.  The donation will help fund the BHF's vital work, including its Heart HelpLine.

The Heart HelpLine is a dedicated telephone service run by cardiac nurses and heart health advisers who are trained to deal with a range of medical and lifestyle queries.  Anyone can call to ask about their own heart health problems or those of a loved one- a vital service for people whose lives have been devastated by heart disease.

Heart and circulatory disease is the UK's biggest killer and no-one should have to face the prospect of losing a loved one before their time.  Each year, around 200,000 people die from heart disease and those who survive can find living with heart and circulatory disease difficult, and at times frightening.

Every donation towards the appeal was matched pound for pound by the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
