In April 2021, the average new-build house price in Britain was £336,058. By April 2022, the price was 17.4%, or £58,641, higher at £336,058.
Scotland new-build prices top the board
New-build performance has been strongest in Scotland where prices have increased by 22% from £238,832 to £291,259, followed by Wales where prices have boomed by 21.7%.
The sector has also performed well in the East Midlands (20.3%), South West (20.1%), and East of England (17.9%).
Zooming in closer on the British Isles, the very best new-build market performance has been reported in Ceredigion, West Wales, were prices have increased by 34.2%, followed by Merthyr Tydfil (34%), the Scottish Borders (33.9%), and Falkirk (33.6%).
Capital city sees slowest growth
The slowest regional market has been London where new-build prices have increased by 8.8%, from £521,717 to £567,526.
Meanwhile, the slowest-performing markets are found in London, with Hounslow (5.5%), Waltham Forest (7.3%), and Tower Hamlets (7.9%) reporting the smallest numbers.
