Nominations can be made for any business who you think deserves recognition via the Property Reporter Awards website and will be put under the microscope by our incredible panel of judges once nominations close on Friday.

Backed by years of experience and industry knowledge, this crack team of seasoned property professionals has been a closely guarded secret, until now.

We are delighted to give you the chance to get to know our judges a little better, find out who they are, where they're from and what makes them tick.

Next up, Ying Tan...

PR: Who are you?

YT: My name’s Ying Tan and I’m the founder and chief executive of Dynamo – one of the UK’s largest mortgage brokerages. I’m also a dedicated family man, father to five children, and a life-long supporter of Liverpool Football Club.

PR: How long have you been involved with the property industry and what is your current role within it?

YT: I’ve been involved with the property industry since I first became a landlord back in 1996. The poor level of advice I received at that time prompted me to establish The Buy to Let Business in 2006 – a brokerage specialising in buy to let advice. Fourteen years and a name change later, our proposition has expanded beyond recognition and I am proud to be leading the extremely talented team here at Dynamo as we assist both individuals and intermediaries with all types of mortgage requirements.

PR: What will you be looking for in a successful nominee, what separates them from the competition?

YT: I’m very open-minded when it comes to looking for talent. I’m a great believer that it can be found in the most unexpected places, so I’m confident in saying that I don’t have any preconceptions. What I’m looking for is evidence of passion and drive alongside a track record of outstanding results. Tick those boxes and you’ll be a strong contender in my eyes.

PR: There are many categories in the Property Reporter Awards. Which category are you most looking forward to Judging?

YT: I’m most looking forward to judging ‘Best Property Developer’. As a landlord myself with a number of property developments under my belt, it’s an area of particular interest to me. I’m looking forward to seeing what the top firms are doing to improve the environmental sustainability of their projects and to make themselves stand out from the crowd.

PR: What judge from the world of TV, film or literature are you most like and why?

YT: I would liken my judging style to that of John Torode on Masterchef. I’m confident in my own experience and abilities and know what I’m looking for. Expect me to say exactly what I think, but there’s sure to be some fun along the way!

If you haven't nominated your own or another business for the Property Reporter Awards yet, please hurry as the cut-off is this Friday and time is running out!
