The firm analysed current property listings on the major portals for homes classed as rural or secluded before ranking each area based on the number of properties that are already sold subject to contract or under offer, as a percentage of all listings, to find which had the highest levels of homebuyer demand.

The figures show that Blaenau Gwent is the top secluded homebuyer hotspot in England and Wales, with 83% of properties listed as rural or secluded already sold subject to contract or under offer. Merthyr Tydfil also flies the flag for Wales with the second-highest level of homebuyer demand for secluded homes at 75%.

While Wales accounts for the top two, the rest of the top 10 hottest spots for secluded homes are all located in England.

Cornwall ranks as the third most in-demand area overall and the hottest spot in England. 61% of secluded or rural properties listed in Cornwall have already been snapped up by homebuyers.

Suffolk also ranks high with buyer demand at 60%, along with the Isle of Wight (59%), Norfolk (59%), West Sussex (59%), Herefordshire (59%), Devon (58%) and Bedfordshire (57%).

Cardiff (19%), Country Durham (30%) and Denbighshire (33%) are currently home to the lowest levels of demand for secluded or rural homes.

In terms of the locations that offer the best chance of securing a secluded sale, Ceredigion ranks top with 35% of all current stock listed for sale classed as rural or secluded. The Isle of Anglesey (32%), the Isle of Wight (28%), Pembrokeshire (27%) and Cornwall (27%) also have a large number of secluded or rural homes currently listed for sale.

Colby Short, Founder and CEO of GetAgent.co.uk, commented: “We’ve heard a lot about homebuyers heading for the hills in the wake of the first national lockdown but the appetite for rural or secluded homes tends to differ, depending on which pocket of the market you analyse.

"However, there are a large number of areas where demand for a secluded or rural bolthole is very high and this substantiates the changing trends we’re currently seeing across the market when it comes to homebuyer property preferences."
