CHL has been named as one of only 50 organisations in the UK who have achieved the top honour  which is only bestowed on those firms deemed to have achieved an ‘extraordinary performance’.  In the South East, CHL are one of just 13 organisations to have achieved Three-Star Status and overall one of 169 organisations in the region receiving accreditation.

Best Companies established the accreditation award scheme to acknowledge excellence in the workplace.  Based on staff feedback, it looks at employee engagement as an integral part of a company’s success and growth, and sets a benchmark for other employers. The accreditation scheme follows a Michelin star-style system with companies awarded one star for first class, two stars for outstanding and three stars for extraordinary performance.

The survey of over 270,000 employees reveals almost 90 per cent of staff in Three-Star companies say their manager cares about their job satisfaction, and 89 per cent say their manager motivates them to give their best.  Among companies that did not achieve accreditation, these scores are just 64 per cent and 56 per cent respectively.

The total number of ‘Star Status’ accredited organisations this year is 410, broken down as follows:

- 50 organisations achieved Three-Star Status.

- 140 organisations achieved Two-Star Status.

- 220 organisations achieved One-Star Status.

Bob Young, Managing Director of CHL Mortgages, commented:

“We are delighted to have achieved Three-Star Status in the Best Companies Accreditation 2010 and believe it is a sign of the positive environment and culture we have at CHL.  We are one of a select few who have achieved an extraordinary performance and this is due to the focus and dedication all our staff have.

"No one can deny that these have been difficult times as we have all faced a substantially changed economic environment, however CHL’s focus has always been to put our staff first and to make sure they are fully supported in everything they do and to help develop their skills and talents to ensure ongoing achievement.

"This is a major achievement for CHL and is an award for the entire team here at Fleet; we will continue to work hard to repeat our top status in the next 12 months and beyond.”

Jonathan Austin, Founder and CEO of Best Companies, said:

“We would like to congratulate CHL Mortgages on their outstanding achievement.  An engaged workforce is essential as organisations move out of the recession and into a more stable economic situation.

"No doubt many organisations have tackled redundancies and rapid change this year. But organisations like CHL that have kept on engaging their staff and making sure they are involved in the business will be in a good position for the future and should be congratulated for their efforts.”
