Westleigh Partnership Homes' and Midland Heart's commitment to significant regeneration in both areas will result in much-needed affordable new housing becoming available to local people.
Funded through the Home's and Communities Agency's (HCA) Affordable Housing Programme, as well as private investment from Midland Heart, one scheme is already complete whilst two are under construction with one more in the pipeline. All are set for completion within 18 months.
Coventry will see 139 new homes, consisting of two developments, with Touchstone Court in the city the first development to complete with 45 new homes. These have been built on the former Touchstone offices site and offer a mix of three and four bedroom houses, along with one and two bedroom apartments. The other development at Burnaby Road is currently under construction, transforming part of the former Dunlop Works into 94 two, three and four bedroom homes.
In Nuneaton, Queen Elizabeth Road is currently under construction and will transform formerly derelict land into a 45 home development consisting of one and two bedroom apartments, along with two and four bedroom houses.
Gary Turner, Head of Investment & Partnerships at Westleigh Developments, comments:
“We have an extensive record of working in partnership with Midland Heart right across the Midlands and know these four schemes will be just as successful, providing much-needed affordable homes.
Each development is an excellent example of partnership working and will provide not only much needed homes for the people of Coventry and Nuneaton, but also regenerate former brownfield sites and create a number of training and employment opportunities, resulting in a great boost to the local economy.”
Nick Byrne, Deputy Director of New Business and Development for Midland Heart, adds:
“We are very pleased to be working with Westleigh to bring new and affordable housing to the area. This partnership is part of an ambitious programme of work that will see us deliver 2300 homes across the Midlands by 2015.”
