At 4.15pm on the opening day Chief Executive Richard Lambert will speak about how renting will become a bigger feature of life in the UK in the coming years. As more people look to the private-rented sector for housing he asks ‘what can be done to give them a sense of confidence in their home’ and explores how landlords can capitalise on this to run a successful business.

Richard has been CEO of the National Landlords Association since October 2011.  He began his career as a parliamentary civil servant in the House of Commons, where over 10 years he worked on Select Committees, various aspects of the legislative process and inter-parliamentary affairs.  Following a brief spell in commercial lobbying, he moved into trade associations, spending five years as the Policy Director covering residential issues at the British Property Federation, then becoming Chief Executive of the British Woodworking Federation in 2002. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a former Chairman of the National Training Organisation, Housing Potential.

The following day Richard Blanco, the London Representative for the NLA will speak about financing a portfolio in the current financial climate from a landlords prospective.

Speaking at 4.15pm Richard will outline some of the pitfalls and offer tips for navigating the funding minefield for small and medium sized landlords along with discussing what is the best way to use funding to get ahead and develop your business.

Richard buys, lets and manages properties in six London boroughs and the East Midlands.  Areas of interest and expertise include buying at auction, managing the development process, encouraging positive landlord tenant relations, financing and business strategy. He is a London Representative for the National Landlords Association, has a keen interest in housing policy, press and media and regularly comments on housing matters through talks, blogging, press, radio and TV.  This summer, he has presented two episodes of Househunters International which broadcasts across the USA and Canada and on the Travel Channel.
