The initiative is being driven by The Pioneer Group on behalf of Stockland Green Community Housing (SGCH) and developed by JHD Partnership Housing Ltd, a full-service developer and contractor. With the demolition complete, construction has started on eight two-bed and six one-bed apartments, which will be made available to occupy in summer 2022 via the affordable rent tenure.
The apartments, which are situated close to local amenities and Gravelly Hill train station will each have a fitted kitchen, communal garden, parking and private access.
Claire Orpwood, Development Manager at The Pioneer Group, says: “We are excited to see that construction work at 411 Slade Road is going smoothly after a hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. Revitalising the former disused brownfield site with affordable, high-quality housing is part of our commitment to the area and its residents. Once completed, 411 Slade Road will form part of our broad housing portfolio, aimed at providing much needed affordable rented homes in the area.”
James Dawson, Managing Director at JHD Partnership Housing Limited, comments: "We're thrilled to be starting work with The Pioneer Group on such an important development. Our team will be using years of experience to ensure that this affordable housing project brings much-needed homes to Stockland Green.”
Dave Livesey, Director of Development & Asset Management, says: “We have a strong commitment to Stockland Green, already providing homes for 37 households in the area. Our core business is providing social and affordable housing and we are pleased to be able to offer properties to rent at a reduced rent level for the first time in Stockland Green. Our unique position as a social landlord, providing homes and services to thousands of customers, assures high-quality homes backed by The Pioneer Group – a landlord with one of the highest customer satisfaction rates in Birmingham.
