John, who enjoyed a career in banking spanning more than 30 years before joining the UK’s largest independent estate agency group, received the honour in recognition of his services to business.

The current Chairman of the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, John draws on his considerable experience working in both the public and private sectors to advise the senior management team at Spicerhaart.

Said John Spence:

“I am privileged and humbled to be recognised with this honour. I have been blessed to work with some forward thinking businesses, who are all working hard to boost the economy, and I would like to pay tribute to their efforts as well.”

Added Paul Smith, CEO, Spicerhaart:

“John has been a huge source of inspiration as well as advice to the senior management team at Spicerhaart and I am sure I speak on behalf of everyone within the company when I say that his CBE is richly deserved.”

John Spence has already received an MBE, and more recently an OBE, for his work with both local communities and charities.
