A record 58.37% of all webpages viewed within the property industry were on Rightmove in March. Experian Hitwise count 1,325 property industry websites, and Rightmove's lead means that more pages are viewed on its site than on all other property websites put together. Rightmove also broke previous records for market share of visits too, with over 6 times more than second placed Find-A-Property.
Rightmove director Miles Shipside comments:
"This record-breaking traffic shows that when UK consumers think property they think Rightmove. This is backed up by the fact that 'Rightmove' remains a more popular Google search term than the word 'property' itself.
"Our page view statistics show that when people visit us they are highly engaged in terms of using the site, and our market share of page views amongst the top 4 property websites has risen again this month to now stand at 83.1%.”
Rightmove's strong traffic in March meant that it was able to cement its place in the top 10 most used websites overall for UK consumers, ending March in 9th place behind the likes of Facebook, Google and YouTube. The second highest property-related website for page views was Zoopla in 110th position, a drop from 98th place in January.
Shipside adds:
"Our position as one of the UK's top 10 websites highlights what a strong online brand Rightmove has now become. The special relationship we have with the British public and the way people engage with our site will be reflected in our new TV advertising campaign which is set to launch later this month.”
Rightmove have invested in a brand new TV advertising campaign to highlight the various ways that the British public use the web and mobile applications to search for Rightmove member agents’ properties. Recording was concluded at the end of March and the advert will launch onto TV screens later this month.
