Mr Ham joins one of the UK’s largest developers of affordable homes from London housing charity, Dolphin Square Foundation (DSF). He brings with him more than 15 years of experience working across the public, private and not for profit sectors and in the fields of urban and regional regeneration, property development, planning and housing.
In his new role, he will take responsibility for delivering the house building strand of Home Group’s Housing with Care strategy which set the target of delivering 7,000 new homes by 2018.
Mark Henderson, chief executive of Home Group, said:
“The UK has a chronic shortage of new affordable housing and Home Group is firmly committed to playing a leading role in addressing that shortfall. Brian Ham led a high-calibre list of applicants for the role and we are excited to have him joining the executive team.
Brian is a highly experienced and versatile individual with a proven track record of delivery in the social housing arena. He will head a talented team delivering more than 1,000 homes each year across England and Scotland.”
Mr Ham has spent the past four years as chief executive of DSF which was formed as an independent charitable organisation in 2005 with an endowment of more than £80m from the Dolphin Square Trust. This followed the sale of the Trust’s leasehold interests in the Dolphin Square residential estate in Pimlico.
He has been heavily involved in delivering affordable homes as part of the new Kings Cross Regeneration Project and also the development of Church Square in Pimlico which won an award for Affordable Housing Development of the Year.
He said:
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to build on the strong track record of delivering affordable homes while with DSF. Home Group is one of the foremost developers of affordable housing in the UK and the scale, scope and ambition of the organisation was a major attraction. My most recent projects in London have seen us bring new levels of creativity and design innovation and I’m keen to bring that perspective to Home Group’s developments where appropriate.”
Mr Ham’s previous experience includes holding directorships at Metnor Property Group, ONE North East, Newcastle City Council and Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. He is also a member of the Board at Community Homes Westminster.
