The impressive sum of £20,000 was raised from the evening, which included both silent and live auctions, a sumptuous three course meal and a live band. Dinner was made more spectacular by the opera singing waiters who showed off their vocal talents as dinner was served.
Present among the frivolities was Agents Giving patron, Phil Spencer, who gave a speech and comedian Bobby Davro, who provided entertainment throughout the evening with his comedy routine.
The silent auction proved very popular, with David Newnes, Executive Director of Estate Agency at LSL Property Services, bagging the prize of the night: a VIP trip to Monaco for four people. Other prizes on offer included champagne tours to France, a Biba handbag and tickets to Lee Valley White Water Centre, an Olympic 2012 venue, to watch events as part of the Agents Giving Great British Property Paddle which will take place in June 2015.
To top off the proceedings St Mungo’s Broadway, a key supported charity of Agents Giving, which provides help for homeless people, received a cheque for £10,000.
Peter Knight, Chairman for Agents Giving comments:
“We are all very proud that the first ever industry ball was so well attended and so much money was raised. We are hoping the event will become a staple in the industry calendar and continue to be a success.
Estate and letting agents collectively raised £13 million for charity last year. The overwhelming turnout at this brand new industry event is testament to the passion for raising money for good causes that is an enduring feature of our industry.”
